Government – AIIPMR-Mumbai is the pioneer institute established in 1955 directly working under the MoHFW, GoI. there are other facilities having PM&R Departments like INIs (AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER, NIMHANS), ESIC, Army R&R, NIs and CRCs under DEPwD, MoSJE, GoI, State Government, Municipal healthcare facilities.
Private – There is ever increasing number of trust-run and private run hospitals having PM&R specialists. They are available from Medical Colleges to home healthcare.

The PM&R doctors may be practicing freelance, clinic, hospital, Department of PMR, or in a dedicated Rehabilitation facility. Since 2020, they started services over telemedicine too. To find a qualified PM&R specialist the following checks shall be done –
